22 Mar 2007Psst! Wanna buy an unlocked-GSM quad-band mobile phone? Would you maybe be more interested in a GPS receiver? How about a PDA
with a full keyboard, integrated wireless capability, Bluetooth,
touchscreen, and a comprehensive suite of Microsoft Pocket applications?
If
you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, you may as well have
answered “yes” to all of them. To quote the Dead Boys, “all this and
more” is included in the HP iPaq HW6510, a veritable Frankenstein’s monster of mobile communication and computing.
It’s
not just any phone/PDA/GPS combo unit, either. Along with the usual
mobile apps (Pocket Internet Explorer, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel,
calendar and contact lists), the iPaq HW6510 offers a VPN client, Windows Media Player 10, HP Image Zone, and loads of others besides. GPRS networks let it stay connected to Internet-based services just about all the damn time. It’s also a GPS
receiver and a quad-band phone, and its fairly puny 56MB user-available
memory can be augmented with SD and/or Mini-SD cards (not included).
What’s more, it can connect via Bluetooth to other networks and devices
likewise equipped. Yes, that is the sound of your life being
immeasurably enriched.
Somebody with a more questionable
sense of humor might describe this thing as “iPaqqed with features.”
But we’d never stoop that low.
And if you believe that…
