All paying accounts support custom domain mapping. This allows you to change your store URL to just about anything, instead of the default setup (mystore.bigcartel.com).

Note: for domain mapping to work correctly, you should remove any JavaScript redirects or HTML frames you’re currently using.

Step 1

If you don’t already own the domain, you’ll need to buy it. There are tons of companies out there to buy domains from. Just be sure that whoever you use, they allow you to modify your domain’s DNS records.

Step 2

Next, you have to create a CNAME record pointing your domain (example: mystore.com or store.mydomain.com) to bigcartel.com. This is something your domain registrar or hosting provider can help you with.

Note: If you’d like to use something like mystore.com and www.mystore.com, then you’ll need to add CNAME records for both and enter either one in your store admin as described in step 3.

Step 3

In your store admin, go to the Settings page and enter in your domain. That’s it!

It usually takes 24-48 hours for a new domain to propagate through the internet, so if it doesn’t work right away… give it some time. If it’s still not working after a few days, you should contact your domain registrar to help you set it up correctly.
