7 May 2007As upstanding, law-abiding citizens, we’d all like to do our part to stop the evils of media piracy. And we’ve observed that secret codes and cease-and-desist letters seem like feeble weapons against this pernicious killer of profits. Only an elite, global paramilitary police unit will effectively end the traffic in illicit data. So, in the interest of aiding the RIAA, MPAA, AARP, NCAA, AAA, NAACP, and other organizations with at least two consecutive A’s in their acronyms, we’re calling on you to help. Your challenge:
Show us your ideas for a new anti-piracy police force.
We’re starting from scratch here, so we’ll need any ideas you can come up with: a logo, a headquarters, uniforms, vehicles, badges, weapons, propaganda, and whatever else you can think of. Of course, action shots of the piracy cops in the field are welcome, too. Now is the time for all good netizens to come to the aid of their media conglomerates!
Post your entry here by 11:59 PM CDT on Sunday, May 6, 2007.
Prizes are $20/$50/$100 for 3rd/2nd/1st. The rules and criteria for
winning: our panel of geniuses can and will make stuff up as it goes
along. Use Photoshop, pen and ink, collage, MSPaint, scrimshaw carving,
tattoos, ice sculpture, whatever, but it’ll only be judged if it’s
visible in our forums as a jpg, gif, or png. As we are fond of saying, try to keep your maximum
width to 450px. If you need a place to host your pictures, try www.imageshack.ws or www.photobucket.com.
We have no connection to either, but they seem free and easy to use.
And if you want us to be sure your entry was indeed your work, post
links to your source images. The more sure we are that you did your own
work, the more likely we are to consider it for a prize.
Past money winners:
If you’d like to nominate any entries from this week’s contest, email
your selections (with links to each individual post) to Jason Toon at [email protected] by noon CDT on Monday, May 7.
