Like remote control planes requiring wide open spaces, RC water toys are only fun if you have access to a large body of water. And a bathtub does not quality as a “large body of water” no matter how small the toy is. (Unless you’ve got a bathtub like that Francis kid had in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.) So even though this RC Rubber Duck is a vast improvement over a standard rubber duck when it comes to bathtime entertainment, I still don’t see it being that much fun.
Obviously both the propeller driven duck and remote control are waterproof, and while the remote requires 2 AA batteries the duck uses a charging box that itself requires 4 AAs. A 5-minute recharge should keep the duck running for about 15 minutes, at which point it might be time to start thinking about actually bathing and getting out of the tub.
The RC Rubber Duck is available from Play.com for about $26.
