Box.net, yet another a remote storage web based service announces an iPhone app that extends the ability to share files uploaded from a desktop to their service and then accessible from the Apple iPhone.

Upon signing up at Box.net, you will see that they offer three tiers of file storage, a free 1gb account with a “big file” file cap – which looks like files above 5mb might not be allowed, I’ll test further later today – upon sign up or 5gb of storage with unlimited storage called their “Box Individual” tier for 7.95 a month, or 79.95 a year. There is also a “Box Business” tier which weighs in at 15gb of space for 19.95 a month or 199.95 a year.

The Box.net Apple iPhone app allows users to access files stored on Box.net, giving iPhone users the ability to store and access Word, Excel and PDF documents. Since its stored on Box.net, the iPhone’s fixed memory is no longer a limitation.

The good part is that it works as advertised. You can upload files from your desktop, then point your Apple iPhone to http://i.box.net, login with your sign-in credentials and you now have access to your files just like you would from your desktop.

In my quick test this morning, I uploaded a Microsoft Word document from my desktop and then accessed it from my Apple iPhone without an issue. The online display of the *.doc file kept my formatting and displayed on the iPhone as I would have expected while still on my desktop. At least something finally that makes my iPhone more “mobile warrior”-ish than before.

The Internet has come a long way since its inception. There are now several different ways to get an internet connection. One can do this by inserting wireless internet card in computer or can use DSL. Apart from this, internet phones and ip phones are there as well to help people connect internet through phones. Internet telephony is not the last option available, wireless internet providers are there as well to offer internet connectivity.
