Smithville, Indiana s oldest and largest privately held telecommunications company, says they will be investing $90 million over the next 48 months to bring fiber to the home service to some 29,000 customers in 17 counties across the State. The telco says the deployment covers large rural chunks of the central, south central and southern parts of the State, including Hendricks County in the greater Indianapolis area. A chunk of the deployment will be funded by a federal loan program from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). No prices yet, but the service will be pure FTTH & IP-based and include HDTV service.
