Some people argue that because Mobile WiMax is hitting the market sooner than LTE (which we discussed this morning), it has the potential to cement itself as the next-gen wireless broadband flavor of choice. Not so much, says a new study by IMS Research, which declares that the technology will struggle to gain traction with operators, and will ultimately remain a “niche mobile technology.” That’s a slight variation from the half-decade worth of mobile hype (largely coming from Intel) that heralded WiMax’s arrival. The report notes that because the 3GPP has already tabbed LTE as the 4G standard for the GSM evolution, and most tier 1 carriers aren’t going with mobile WiMax, LTE will ultimately be the king of the hill. The bottomless pockets of AT&T and Verizon should certainly help LTE’s fortunes.

The Internet has come a long way since its inception. There are now several different ways to get an internet connection. One can do this by inserting wireless internet card in computer or can use DSL. Apart from this, internet phones and ip phones are there as well to help people connect internet through phones. Internet telephony is not the last option available, wireless internet providers are there as well to offer internet connectivity.

Looks like WiMAX technology is getting a lot of traction this days. TelegeoGraphy just came up with a report showing a great growth for WiMAX all over the world, especially in India.
