While users by and large love Verizon FiOS, they don’t always love Verizon FiOS billing — with users routinely being over-billed or billed for services never ordered, and correcting these errors often quite difficult. In New Jersey, the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs has sued Verizon for allegedly using “deceptive and misleading” marketing practices. The telco is particularly under fire for promises made regarding promotions, with the suit focusing on the phantom free TV offer Verizon struggled with last year, but also taking aim at Verizon’s tendency to charge more than their advertised rate, or to charge activation fees when they claimed such fees would be waived.
