The concept is right, a machine that turns scrap paper into toilet paper. It saves companies from trips to the recycling center and from purchasing toilet paper all in one fell swoop. And then you see the price and how much paper is required. The machine costs ,000 and takes two hours to turn 1,800 sheets of paper into two rolls of toilet paper.
Let’s do the math here, I can go to the store near my house and pick up a dozen rolls of questionable quality toilet paper for about or I can spend ,000 and inconvenience the hell out of myself by turning a mountain of scrap copy paper into a couple of rolls. Plus, pretty much every company over here is trying the paperless workplace thing at the moment, which means that unless you work in a printing company, you are unlikely to have 1,800 sheets lying around.
But who knows, it can be had for less money than a couple of temps and will likely glean a healthy tax write-off. [Mainichi Shimbun via Crunchgear, Craziest Gadgets]
