“peliCAN” T-Shirt Benefit for Gulf Restoration Network

Frederik Wepener and Ross Zietz, along with Threadless.com have collaborated to bring a t-shirt where all of the proceeds will go to the ongoing Gulf Coast oil spill:

As of this writing, there is still no end to be seen to the Gulf oil spill. And as we all watch the gallons of oil spilling into the water and onto land, we can’t help but wonder what we can do to help. So a couple weeks ago, we decided to reach out to Threadless member Frederik Wepener of South Africa to work with our own Ross Zietz on a collaboration tee. The result is this design, peliCAN t-shirt.

Cool way to give to a good organization and get something cool out of it. Perhaps the best $10 you can donate.

Introducing ToyNinja Pop Culture Tees

It’s getting warmer again and in my search for standout t-shirts to wear this Summer, I somehow ran across ToyNinja and their pop culture t-shirts.

Comprising mostly of their iconic mascot, a cute bear that’s also a ninja, the ToyNinja offerings have been around since 2009 and are deceptively simple while easily standing out from the rest of shirts out there. Think equal parts: Medicom Kubricks, Afro Samurai, Star Wars and Pedobear.

I want some of that action! Cool part, you can look different from the crowd and support an eco-friendly company. Each of their shirts are printed with eco-friendly water based ink as opposed to plastisol ink that is toxic to the environment.

We relied on the machines to help us communicate. But before long, the only language we could speak… was theirs.

They launched a ruthless campaign to destroy the ambiguities and nuances of human language. Complex emotions and concepts were brutally reduced to moronic acronyms. The night is nigh! The commemoration is coming! The bacchanal is back! Whether you attended Shirt.Woot’s first birthday party last year or just looked at the pictures afterwards and wept bitter, lonely tears, you’d be a damned fool to miss this year’s edition. Just looking at that boffo Dan Zettwoch illustration at left has us all a-tizzy. But before we get swept away in the excitement, let’s calm ourselves and break it all down into bite-size info-kibble:

What: Shirt.Woot’s 2nd Birthday Party
When: Saturday, August 29, 7 p.m.-Midnight
Where: The incredible City Museum in downtown St. Louis

Free City Museum admission for the first 200 attendees! Just enter the museum the usual way and tell the ticket-takers you’re here for the Shirt.Woot party. If you’re one of the first 200 people to use that line, you’ll glide on through. If you’re late, well, be ready to pay the usual admission price or go home. Rooftop access will cost each of us an additional at the front desk. Save yourself the walk back downstairs later and pay for it upfront: it’s worth it.

Check out what we did the last time we went. And if you just can’t tear yourself away during the party, the Museum stays open until 1 AM, so you’ll have a little exploring time left afterwards.

Limited free parking! Other parking options! We’ll have a small lot set aside for our parking freeloaders on a first-come, first-parked basis. After that, you’ll either have to park in the City Museum’s lot (), another nearby surface lot (prices vary), or at a meter on the street (most are free after 7 p.m. but check your meter to be sure). We’ll post a more detailed map on the blog pointing out exactly where you can put your car.

Ah, yes… I’m sensing a presence. I see a tall figure. Does anyone have a departed loved one who is very tall? No? Are you sure? I’m getting… a name… Woody? Does anyone know a Woody who might be trying to reach us from beyond? No?

Woody, who are you? Why are you, a spirit of the dead, making yourself known to us in the world of the living? Woody? He’s not saying anything. I need everyone to join hands and be very still. Woody? Maybe he’s a mute.

Ah, wait! I’m seeing… Oh, my! Woody, were you… I’m sensing that Woody was the victim of violence! Killed right here on this spot, in this meadow! With… an axe? Woody, is that right? Speak up, Woody, please.
