Named after the Nike co-founder and track and field coach, Bill Bowerman, these Nike Mayfly’s aren’t your typical run of the mill sneakers. Built primarily for short bursts of speed (sprinting) providing optimum performance, the Nike Mayfly lives up to the insect of the same name with a short lifespan by only lasting only about 100km.

Innovation at its peak, the Nike Mayfly Men’s Running Shoe is an ultra-lightweight racing design. Created with a lifespan as short as its namesake, the Mayfly is designed to go 100km. Durable, breathable ripstop fabric makes up the upper, while a Phylite foam fuses the midsole and outsole together for the lightweight, minimal cushioning you need to swiftly go the distance.

Cushion, reinforcement but not build quality is sacrificed to provide athletes the absolute most lightweight and responsive shoe for the buck. Available at Nike.com for $45.00. I personally like the colors the best <strike>Go CU Buffs!</strike>… might get a pair just to kick around in.

A geek cannot live off of coffee, energy drinks and sodas alone. At one point, our tastes should expand to finer tastes, right? As part of of the Venturing and Emerging Brands division of Coca-Cola North America, Cascal contains between 60 and 80 calories a bottle, the brand has three variants: Crisp White, with notes of pear, apricot and magnolia; Light Red, with notes of blackcurrant, cherry and mirabelle; and Fine Dry, with notes of cherry, apple and anise.

Cascal’s always fresh, crisp taste is fashioned with imported European ingredients at a microbrewery in Florida, where it is pioneering a patented new “dual-stage slow malt fermentation” method with no added sugar. Fermented malt is used in the Light Red and Fine Dry flavors.

Cascal is akin to a fine wine or prosecco, yet without alcohol. Careful crafting gives the sophisticated French-style soda its unique taste and aroma and natural goodness – with 60-80 calories per bottle.

Priced at $1.99 a bottle, $6.99 a 4-pack and exclusively sold at Whole Foods and on-trade stores in New York City. This isn’t your normal “soda”.

I’ll just ask why this isn’t in the news? Why isn’t her voice and the voice of the affected as present as the voice of the people that have done this to that area?
Punk rock started in 1974 or so and let’s face it. It was the time of the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, and The Clash… and that was 36 years ago. So for your inner-punk rocker, why not sport the spiked sports wristband by Atypyk during your “Sweating to the Oldies” workout tape?

How can you not wear this and avoid shouting the lyrics to “Rock the Casbah” or find some G.G. Allin to rock out to and complete your day!? At least something you do that day will be punk rock and cool that day. No word on price yet, but you better believe I’m getting a pair as soon as I can.

I love sushi. I love seafood. I love my Apple iPhone. Combine all three and I’ll be happy… oh wait, Monterey Bay Aquarium has just done that. Well, you can’t exactly eat the app, but you can install the free Apple iPhone app and see whether or not what you’re buying is not only environmentally friendly but also what should be avoided due a plethora of reasons from overfishing to health concerns due to shipping or place of origin.

Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch, our new iPhone application brings the latest Seafood Watch recommendations directly to your iPhone or iPod touch. Now you can make sustainable seafood choices quickly and easily; whether you’re eating at your favorite restaurant or shopping for dinner. And at a time when the world’s oceans are severely overfished, your seafood choices make a big difference.

And if you’re not an Apple iPhone owner, you can user their mobile website just as well. Definitely worth it if you enjoy some of the yummier things from the sea and wish to raise your awareness about not only what you eat but how your decisions affect the future generations as well.

Thanks Janice for the tip. This one is staying on my iPhone!

If you are the sort of person that is scared about putting your fingers where others have been before, rejoice, as thanks to an inexpensive prophylactic pointer, you no longer have to touch things with your own skin.

According to the manufacturer:

Great for keypads/point-of-sale terminals in stores, ATMs, elevator buttons, gas station pump buttons, courier scanners, and more # Wide, flat round end for pushing mechanical buttons # Integrated stylus tip for tapping electronic buttons and for signing # Mounts on key ring for ready availability # Made of strong high quality polycarbonate ABS.

This silly product is presumably marketed at people deathly afraid of H1N1.

The Gyrowheel makes use of a gyroscope, an internal, battery-powered, spinning wheel, to stabilize bikes and teach kids to ride. As young riders gain confidence, the level of stabilization can be adjusted.

The manufacturer claims that it doesn’t teach the same bad riding habits as traditional training wheels. It is used to replace the standard front wheel on kids’ bikes and a 12-inch version will be available from December; later, Gyrobike hopes to introduce a 16-inch version and they also have an adult version in the works.

SEOUL, Korea (AVING) — <visual News> Cosmosway (CEO Shim Gyu Seong, www.mascare.kr) introduced a new concept of sanitary mask called ‘Mascare’ at the G-FAIR 2009 held at KINTEX and drew a lot of attention.

While existing masks were made of nonwoven fabric or cotton, Mascare is made of transparent film as to show the face of the person wearing it, because most of the people who wear those masks would be working in the service sector.

Also, the front part of the mask consists of a film that is placed at a distance from the person’s mouth and nose so that the person can breathe and talk easily. It is covered with special coating as to cause no steam during a person’s breathing or cooking, and when the mask gets dirty you can wash it with water and use it again.
…

A ladder safety system… this is an idea who’s time has come.

True story… I was up on a ladder, outside and despite being a relatively heavy dude, the ladder started to shift a bit and slide despite being on my wooden deck. I know, it happens… but there’s nothing like being up there and having a ladder start to slide even a slight bit and you’ll find a new religion or two.

Enter Anthony Mapstone’s adjustable ladder legs that honestly seem like a step in the right direction. On the very bottom, there’s a few rubber pads; however the magic seems to be within the mechanism that would adjust for any type of slipping and disallow the bottom of the ladder to move out of contact with the ground.

Yeah… I needed this hours ago. Grabbed this killer idea from [ New Idea Home Page ]
