If you think 3D TV is little more than a new old gimmick that requires annoying glasses and a new television, you might want to skip this post. If you think 3DTV is a compelling product, you might be interested to note that Verizon has been working with the New York Football Giants on broadcasting the first ever NFL game in 3D (well, preseason, anyway). Verizon will be showing the September 2 preseason match-up between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots in 3D to FiOS TV customers.

If you recall, Verizon earlier this year called similar cable “first ever” 3D sports efforts “hype,” and insisted they’d be ramping up their own 3D efforts ahead of the 2010 holiday season.

Just last week, I was so deep in the woods that screaming for the whereabouts of my traveling companions would have probably gotten the attention of some animals that I’d rather avoid – read: bears. Called the “Nice Cup In Bra,” the lingerie consists of a grass-green top that, when removed, conveniently unfurls into a 1.5-meter-long putting mat. When the user sinks a putt into one of the cups, a built-in speaker pumps out a cry of “Nice shot.” (Watch a short video.)

In addition to functioning as a practice mat, the bra incorporates features that can come in handy on the course, such as pockets for storing extra balls and tees, as well as a detachable flag pin that doubles as a score pencil.

In my city (Greenville, SC), the BMW Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament is currently going on and while thinking about hitting up the Thornblade golf course, it hit me.

I don’t know how many yards is hole 8, and if hole 14 would be a dogleg left with a par 5, let alone the par for each hole. And history has shown me that I shouldn’t trust the markers on most courses. They can be 10-30 yards off and I should have used a 5 iron instead of a 3 iron.

Heck, the last golf course I had been to was the local one to me down in Charleston, South Carolina and not in Greenville, South Carolina. So even though I’m in the same state but about 220 miles displaced, man I still get lost while driving. Let alone while walking around a strange golf course. And as a man, you know I can’t ask for directions and forget about reading signs. Especially since… well, I just don’t trust them to be accurate.

I’d be prepared to accurately suss out the amount of yards per hole and the amount of yardage to the green.
