36 Skaters + Freebord + Neon = 1 Awesome Video

Freebord [ site here ] tasked 36 skaters with block shaped neon shapes (think Tetris) to make the above video. Seriously awesome. Now, you’re probably thinking… what’s a freebord?

Freebord (has) outside wheels that act just like the edges on your snowboard. The result: total speed control that allows you to bomb the steepest street you want.

Freebord’s center wheels act like the petex base on your snowboard allowing you to slide your edge and drift into switch.

Edge in and slide to a stop, same as you do on snow.

Freebord’s patented truck design is the only board on the market that combines both carving and sliding [think about it: without both, it's not snowboarding]

Simply put, Freebord is the only way to simulate snowboarding in the other 3 seasons of the year. Yeah… I so want one of these boards. Thanks Jessica for the tip!

Rumor: New Tony Hawk Game For The DS Could Include Motion Sensor Controls

According to gaming site Maxconsole, the next Tony Hawk game for the Nintendo DS could incorporate a motion and tilt sensing control scheme.

A new game has appeared at the Australia Ratings Classificatiosn board (OFLC) and it’s called “Tony Hawk’s Motion’ which carries a G rating. Activision has previously said that this game will launch a with a new technology that has not been seen on the DS yet. So we’re speculating that such a technology could be a motion/titlt sensor…

Now I’m not entirely sure how big the motion & tilt sensing hardware is, but I assume it will be incorporated into a peripheral that needs to be inserted in the Nintendo DS’s GBA slot, rather than in the DS game cartridge itself. The rumor also leads to speculation about whether or not the game will be seeing a release for the motion & tilt sensing iPhone too, since I’m sure most of us have had our fill of Super Monkey Ball.

It’s been a while, but I had an article about the Freebord “skateboard” that honestly, while riding it, seems to share more with a snowboard than a skateboard. Even though I was a huge skateboard fanatic growing up, the years have seen me shift to more snowboarding – it didn’t hurt as much if I fall.

Well, falling while on your Freebord will still hurt (~~that’s incentive to suck less~~), but the sensation of snowboarding in the middle of the summer still should be enticing.
