Acer has showcased its Android based smartphone Liquid S100 during CeBIT 2010, which comes equipped with a 3.5-inch WVGA touch screen. Powered by 768MHz Qualcomm 8250 processor, 512MB ROM and 265MB RAM, the Liquid S100 features a 5M camera, Bluetooth, GPS, microSD card slot and mini USB.

HP has shown their smartbook Compaq Airlife 100, featuring 10.1-in touchscreen display, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 16GB SSD, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, SD card slot, webcam, full Qwerty keyboard, Android OS.

Sprint alerted Forbes that the carrier’s first Mobile WiMax handset will launch in the first half of this year. Given the fact that the Sprint/Clearwire Mobile WiMax network has a limited reach of 27 U.S. markets, most of them little, the device will of course be dual mode – switching to Sprint’s EVDO network when Mobile WiMax isn’t available.

Verizon has announced on their blog that the telco is letting owners of select Android-based Verizon Wireless phones use the devices to control their FiOS TV service.

LG Electronics launches its Android based smartphone OPhone, model: LG GW880 in the China market. The LG OPhone supports TD-SCDMA, the 3G standard in China.

Verizon’s “iPhone killer,” the Motorola Droid, went on sale last Friday, and Motorola says they sold about 100,000 of the devices over the weekend. While not stellar, that’s not entirely bad.
