Intel/Nokia have uncovered their upcoming MeeGo v1.1 handset UX developer preview for all to see to entice developers and get the buzz going about their handset OS that’s equal parts Intel Moblin and Nokia Maemo. This preview includes:

• MeeGo Handset Dialer is MeeGo’s Handset dialer application
• MeeGo Handset SMS is MeeGo’s Handset SMS application
• Fennec Browser is MeeGo’s Qt based web browser for Handsets
• MeeGo Handset Photos is MeeGo’s Handset photo viewer
• MeeGo Handset People is MeeGo’s Handset contacts management system
• Kernel Version 2.6.35
• MeeGo Touch Framework is MeeGo’s framework to assist in rapid touch based application development
• QtContactsTracker is MeeGo’s back-end contracts storage management engine
• Virtual Keyboard is MeeGo’s virtual touch based handset keyboard

Odd part, I don’t see mention of the Nokia N900 images for download as of yet. Perhaps that’s an oversight.

According to the rumors, Nokia will give Nokia N900 owners their first look at the upcoming MeeGo UI for the handsets – the UI for the tablets has already been shown in a very beta version already.

UPDATE: The MeeGo Handset UX GIT repository has been updated and filled up with… well, stuff. No announcement but one is expected later today from Nokia.

Acer [ site here ] has displayed its smart phone neo Touch S200, which adopts a 3.8-inch WVGA touch screen. Powered by 1GHz Qualcomm 8250 processor and Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, the neo Touch S200 features 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, a 5M camera, Bluetooth, GPS and microSD card slot.

Sprint alerted Forbes that the carrier’s first Mobile WiMax handset will launch in the first half of this year. Given the fact that the Sprint/Clearwire Mobile WiMax network has a limited reach of 27 U.S. markets, most of them little, the device will of course be dual mode – switching to Sprint’s EVDO network when Mobile WiMax isn’t available. It’s also rumored to be the HTC Supersonic, an Android-based phone that’s been gossiped about by gadget nerds since January.

Clearwire is going to need to quadruple their footprint in 2010 in order to meet their goal of serving 120 million customers by the end of the year, including the mega markets of New York and San Francisco. Later this year the 4G race begins to get more interesting, as Verizon begins launching LTE service in between twenty five and thirty markets.

Pantech [ site here ] announced the launch of its new Qwerty messaging phone ‘Impact‘ in the United States through AT&T. The Impact, which is designed for young generation mates a 2.6-inch WQVGA wide screen and Qwerty keyboard, it is also equipped with a full touch pad to provide a tactile vibrating sensation on the front panel.

Other features included threaded SMS support, Video Share function, AGPS, external Micro SD card slot and more.

SEOUL, Korea (AVING) — Pantech, Korean handset manufacturer, announced the release of its new luxury phone ‘SKY DuPont(model: IM-U510LE)’ in collaboration with the French company, S.T. Dupont.

The shape of SKY DuPont phone is inspired by the company’s famous lighter design with ‘cling sound’ which is heard when opening the cap.

Adopting a 3-inch full touchscreen with gold-coated edging, the SKY DuPont phone features 2G CDMA network, T-DMB, a 3M camera, GPS support, Bluetooth connectivity, electronic dictionary function and more.

The SKY DuPont phone is expected to be available next month.
