From the sound of it, ISPs are working with Cisco to design a public relations counterpunch to Google’s announcement, which as we noted at launch is in part designed to give Google policy and political ammunition in the fights over open access, network neutrality, and competition.

Time Warner Cable announced that the cable provider is now the nation’s third-largest broadband ISP, having just passed the 9 million broadband subscriber mark.

Judging from some leaked AT&T talking points posted to our forums, AT&T is getting ready to hit regular DSL customers with some price hikes as well.

Many ISPs fail to expand broadband to all of their potential customers, which is sometimes understandable given the expense. Sometimes, they lobby to have laws passed or engage in sleazy tactics to prevent those from getting service.

Earlier this month an analyst for the Yankee Group and one of the primary developer’s of Amsterdam’s fiber to the home (and houseboat) network argued that the bandwidth hog didn’t exist, and was instead simply a concept used to disguise poorly designed networks and justify anti-consumer behavior.

Chevrolet has finally added an option to their SUV’s, trucks and vans that I would consider a “must-have” for all of us constantly connected to the internet types. Chevrolet Motors has introduced a dealer-installed Wi-Fi internet system by Autonet Mobile that acts as an internet hub whilst traveling around.

One thing lacking in every Exaflood debate or congestion claim has been hard, raw data provided by the ISPs for independent analysis. By and large, the Exaflood, network neutrality and bandwidth hog discussions have been dominated by think tankers who make a living massaging statistics to suit the message.

Michael Arrington, founder of TechCrunch has finally announced what many people had already assumed months ago… that the Crunchpad, an internet tablet that allowed for quick access to the web in an inexpensive gadget that offered 12 inches of capacitive touch screen goodness is finally dead. Gone. Vaporware like the Infinium Labs Phantom.

Still gobbling up rural America accounts and companies, Windstream acquires NuVox and now Iowa Telecom.
