The Samsung EX1 supports RAW and gives enthusiasts full control over their images thanks to its shutter priority, aperture priority and full Manual shooting modes.

Samsung Digital Imaging released its 10 megapixel high-end compact digital camera EX1 in the Korea market, designed specifically for today’s advanced and enthusiast photographers.

The new flagship of the company’s compact digital camera family, the new EX1 incorporates a full-range of advanced features, including a high-performance imaging sensor and one of the most impressive lenses ever found on a compact camera – a 24mm ultra-wide angle Schneider KREUZNACH lens, f/1.8.

The Samsung EX1 is sure to turn heads thanks to its f/1.8 Schneider lens. The impressive f/1.8 lens offers photographers a wider range of aperture steps and shallow depth-of-field, giving them the ability to blur out the background of their images while maintaining focus on their subjects. The ultra-fast, f/1.8 lens also allows users to take better photos in low-light environments as more light is passed through to the new high-performance 1/1.7-inch CCD sensor.

The high-end Schneider lens offers a 24mm, ultra-wide focal length and 3x optical zoom. Much wider than traditional compact cameras, the EX1′s 24mm ultra-wide angle lens allows photographers to capture more of a desired scene, such as beautiful landscapes and large groups of friends or family. For blur free images, the EX1′s lens is also paired with Samsung’s Dual Image Stabilization technology.

Composing and reviewing images on the EX1′s three-inch, swiveling AMOLED screen is a pleasure. The rotating AMOLED display will allow photographers to precisely frame their images the way they want and shoot from just about any angle, including overhead or low-to-the-ground shots. Compared to the traditional TFT-LCD found on most digital cameras, the EX1′s AMOLED provides users with a higher contrast ratio, deeper blacks and more accurate, vivid colors, even when viewed from an angle or in direct sunlight.

The EX1 supports RAW and gives enthusiasts full control over their images thanks to its shutter priority, aperture priority and full Manual shooting modes. When using these settings, shooters can experiment with features such as slower shutter speeds and depth-of-field; however, for those who prefer ease-of-use over manual controls, the EX1 also offers Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology.

The Samsung EX1 is available in Black and Silver.

Cowon launched its Windows 7-based MID Cowon W2 in the Korea market. It comes with a 4.8 inch wide LCD screen with 1024×600 resolution, utilizes an Intel Atom processor for low power consumption. Features include full browsing, high-performance virtual keyboard and Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR.

Designed with metallic body, it supports up to 10 hours of battery life and 230 hours of sleep mode time. Other features included two USB ports, D-SUB, SKYPE support, JetToolbar and voice recognition function.

But I don’t see a forward facing camera and you know this is probably never coming to the US.

Inbrics is not a name known in the US at all. But head to their native Korea and you’ll see that they’ve been in the market for quite a few years and are known for making innovative products in the VoIP market. Announced at the CES 2010, I had talked to their Marketing Director Bobby Cha last week about their products but one of their offerings immediately stood out to me, their Inbrics MID M1.

Inbrics M1 delivers entertainment everywhere. It (Inbrics MID M1) includes Wi-Fi wireless networking, along with an Google Android based OS and web access wherever there is a wireless network.

While this could be seen as another MID (Mobile Internet Device) after a lot of failed or quickly forgotten attempts in the last few years – remember the OQO 02, Microsoft Origami, Nokia N810? – but after talking to the Inbrics US Marketing Director, I feel like his one statement about the timing being better now than the prior offerings being akin to how the Apple Newton didn’t exactly set the PDA world on fire, but the Palm offerings came later and found a market ready and willing for a PDA.

Taking a look at the Inbrics MID M1, it is everything that most of the prior MIDs were not. Thin, powered by an OS that’s meant to be portable and lightweight. And above all… it’s downright sexy. There’s been a few videos that were released last year, but above is the final product. Currently running Google Android 1.5, Inbrics is quickly making its way towards 2.0, if not 2.1 very soon in time for their upcoming release. I would love it if they included WiMAX too.

UPDATE: Just heard from Inbrics that the MID M1 will indeed have WiMAX built-in.

As far as the form factor goes, if it’s released and has a great price, I might have a replacement for my Nokia N810 that Nokia has seen fit to stop updating and supporting. Price and delivery TBA.
