Intel/Nokia have uncovered their upcoming MeeGo v1.1 handset UX developer preview for all to see to entice developers and get the buzz going about their handset OS that’s equal parts Intel Moblin and Nokia Maemo. This preview includes:

• MeeGo Handset Dialer is MeeGo’s Handset dialer application
• MeeGo Handset SMS is MeeGo’s Handset SMS application
• Fennec Browser is MeeGo’s Qt based web browser for Handsets
• MeeGo Handset Photos is MeeGo’s Handset photo viewer
• MeeGo Handset People is MeeGo’s Handset contacts management system
• Kernel Version 2.6.35
• MeeGo Touch Framework is MeeGo’s framework to assist in rapid touch based application development
• QtContactsTracker is MeeGo’s back-end contracts storage management engine
• Virtual Keyboard is MeeGo’s virtual touch based handset keyboard

Odd part, I don’t see mention of the Nokia N900 images for download as of yet. Perhaps that’s an oversight.

According to the rumors, Nokia will give Nokia N900 owners their first look at the upcoming MeeGo UI for the handsets – the UI for the tablets has already been shown in a very beta version already.

UPDATE: The MeeGo Handset UX GIT repository has been updated and filled up with… well, stuff. No announcement but one is expected later today from Nokia.

I’ve not been a Windows Mobile user since the Windows Mobile 2003 series days. With the announcements ranging from last year that (then named) Windows Mobile 7 will not be shown until 2010 when it was still 2009 to the recent announcement that Adobe will not have the Adobe Flash 10.1 Player ready for the initial release of Windows Phone Series 7, Microsoft pretty much did something that shocked quite a few folks.

They released a look into their upcoming OS that simplifies the look and feel of the UI to a point where it is now finger friendly, has multi-touch and seems to have taken the Zune HD UI and taken it up to a new level. That and the fact that Mobile IE is going to be new – please add full CSS2/CSS3 support – and it’s looking like Microsoft has a potential winner on their hands. Makes me glad they delayed last year’s announcement.

How about Full HD on a Smartphone? Unreal? Well, Zii Trinity mobile platform proves that this is possible. It will allow its users to enjoy Full HD video on this device. It has been designed by Creative Ziilabs and will run on Android and Plaszma interface. Making this step we can say that cellphones are coming even closer to netbooks thanks to their possibilities.

These features are all powered by ARM-based ZMS-05 and ZMS-08 processors that power Full HD graphics for netbooks. Don’t they have problems with cooling? Apparently not.

Multiple touch has finally made its way to the desktop in a way that I’ve been waiting for. Imagine using Corel Painter 11 [ Product Here ] and really doing some serious finger painting without the mess. Or just going through multiple touch enabled operating systems – Mac OS X and Windows Vista and Windows 7 quickly come to mind – using gestures that make using a computer as simple as flicking a wrist to pan around, pinching to shrink or zoom or dragging a finger to scroll a webpage.

With the Android platform just around the corner, it seems like Google’s coming out with their fully opensource, WebKit based browser that promises to use less system resources and maintain speed advantages. In case you’ve not yet read about it, Google outed a 38-page comic book about Google Chrome.

Yes, 38 pages. Spiderman doesn’t even clock in at 38 pages anymore.

Anyway, just a few quickly gleamed details:

• Open-source
• V8 JS VM; improved GC, JIT, and more
• Webkit
• One process per tab/plugin
• Gears built-in
• Allegedly “light”, “clean” UI
