25 Nov 2009LaCie has introduced another one of those monolithic looking external hard drive with the “in style” Blue LED and what not. But the LaCie Lacinema Classic HD has HDMI outputs, 1080p playback and a remote control.
With USB 3.0 coming out very soon, it is expected all that had preceded it (USB 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 for instance) will be destroyed by how fast it can access other USB 3.0 enabled devices. Tweaktown puts an early chipset through its paces against Firewire 400, Firewire 800, eSATA, SATA and USB 2.0 of course with varying results.
LaCie comes out with a Sam Hecht design for a Portable DVD±RW drive that promises to not cause too much of a bulge in almost the slimmest of slim notebook bags out there.
Well, Kingston just takes what’s out there, even the recently announced 128gb USB Flash drive and shoves that aside with their newer, over $900 256gb USB Flash drive. That’s 54 DVD’s worth of storage. That’s 10 whole Blu-Ray movies worth of space… wow.
